Zack’s Place Turkey Trot Register Now!

Register Now for the Zack’s Place Turkey Trot.

On Thanksgiving Day whether you are in Woodstock, surrounding towns, other states, or even beyond, we are hoping to see your pictures or find you walking or running in the annual Zack’s Place 5K Turkey Trot.  This is our major fundraiser and is crucial to the support of the programs at Zack’s Place. This year we plan on holding an in-person event starting at the Elementary School; however, due to Covid, registration will be outdoors, across the street at Vail Field. We will also alter the format as follows:

Outdoor Registration with multiple tables
Require all on-site to wear masks until the race gets underway
Stagger starts based upon run speed per mile with pauses in between groups
No live music
No food or drink
Hand Sanitizer supplies
No awards presentation

We will also post reminders for those who are ill or have been exposed to stay home and avoid situations that might lead to the congregation.

The spirit of this walk is in its participants.  We hope that you will join us either virtually as you did last year, or on-site this year and with as much enthusiasm as you always bring to this event.  Sharing is much a part of what we do at Zack’s Place and this event allows all of us to participate in a way that best suits our individual needs.

The Zack’s Place Turkey Trot, a 5K run and walk held on Thanksgiving Day, was first established in 2007 and has become a dependable annual fundraiser.  Our first run saw almost 200 people join us; in 2019, we had over 1,500 and raised $80,000.  All of the proceeds are dedicated to our operational costs.

The race begins in front of the Woodstock Elementary School at 10:00 AM, and this year, with a tiered start. The run meanders through the historic Village of Woodstock, then on towards Billings Farm, around Mountain Avenue, around The Town Green, and ending at the start line.

Families traditionally run together as college students and relatives gather for the Thanksgiving celebration. Grandparents and young children in carriages participate as walkers and dogs join in.  However, we also have “satellite participants” who cannot be in Woodstock but who run wherever they are: Hawaii, Italy, New York City, etc. This is indeed a day of thanks where individuals help support our enrichment center and give thanks for their own gifts at the same time.  Please do join us this year.
