Cranberry Bread Recipe

3 cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cup orange juice
1 1/2 Tbsps. orange rind, grated
3/4 cup chopped nuts
2 1/4 cups, coarsely-ground fresh cranberries

Sift first three ingredients together and set aside. Add soda to shortening and mix well. Gradually blend in sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add flour mixture alternately with orange juice. Stir in orange rind, nuts and cranberries. Turn into a well greased, lightly floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours, or until done. Remove from pan and cool.
